This isn’t our first rodeo

Over the course of nearly nine years, aided by massive leaps in technology, we’ve reinvented ourselves numerous times. We sparked trends; the blogs copied them. We changed lanes again, the Emmitt Smith of this game.

Like all things, we change. We learn, mature, ‘grow up’ for all intents and purposes. Oh and our tastes refine. Just look at the evolution of our logo over the years.

What hasn’t changed is our continued drive to pioneer a new age of media, to distance ourselves from the formulaic, the mundane, the blog world.

When ‘blogging’ became a job you could have instead of a passion you shared with others, I grew a distaste for the word. My colleagues shared my state-of-mind and we decided to do things differently, to buck the status quo.

We never wanted to fit in: we wanted to do great things, create and deliver great content, tell great stories. Fueled by the desire to share those stories of style, food, music, and travel, the magazine is both an homage to print, as well as a middle finger to the current state of online ‘media’.

We’ve taken our time with this issue. Hours upon hours with every single article. Edit after edit, to bring you what we truly believe is an online issue in the purest form.

It has been a long time since I’ve had the opportunity to work with a talented group like the one we have right now and I couldn’t be more proud to share this inaugural issue with them, and to quote one of the first people I ever had to chance to interview when we were just getting started in 2005: ‘started from the bottom now we here.’ Ladies and gentlemen, the pleasure is ours.

Cheers,

Leslie
