Music Monday – Valentine’s Mixtape

I realize I’m a little late here posting this week’s Music Monday, but I admit it, I put my Valentine before all of you. While I should have been writing this last night so I could blast it out this morning, I was covered in glitter and scraps of paper making the greatest (I must say) homemade Valentine’s Day card.

One thing my Valentine and I have in common is, we love tacos (so does the rest of the WRG? fam, have you seen our Taco Tuesday’s?!). We also both really love Indian food so decided to make our own creation, Tandoori Tacos. They were obviously delicious but definitely need a little more work (our excuse to make more tacos).

I realize not all of you had a special someone to spend today with today (hey, I can’t say I’ve been so lucky in years past) but whether we like it or not, thanks to the romantics, the cynics, and Hallmark cards, we can’t ignore this day. So we decided to bring you a variety of Valentine’s mixtapes depending on your mood.

Because love it confusing, blind and often forgotten, we have ‘Mixed Feelings by Ill John Kim. Songs you secretly love but forgot…’ Need we say more?

Looking for some sexin’ tunes? Psychology’s “What Is Love Volume 5” has some R&B and 80’s love ballads that in past decades have and still will cause panties to drop indecades to come.

For the lovers- past, present and future… Lissa Monet and P Plus’ ‘Love Letters + Broken Hearts V.2’ features classics, current and future hits from Luther Vandross, The XX, Eryka Badu, Seal, Bootsy Collins, Bruno Mars and a whole slew of others. Get it (as well as Volume 1) here.

Craving some indie jams? ‘The Fox Is Black; has you covered. His first Valentine’s Mix is titled ‘Not In Love’ is well love songs, but not really love songs. Songs by Sleigh Bells, Wavves, Modest Mouse, Crystal Castles and Starfucker available to download here. The second mix is more lovey dovey with more romantic songs by Bright Eyes, Beiruit, The Beatles and The Magnetic Fields available to download here.

Still feeling down about being alone on this dark and cold (?) night? Then take a listen to ‘James Hunt Chronicals 2 – The Suffering’. Keep it emo with some soulful tracks by Al Green, Cee Lo Green, Drake, Marsha Ambrosius and Mariah Carey. Take a listen and download here.
