Last hump day, Aug 6, I had a chance to check out the last night of the Glow in the Dark Tour at Madison Square Garden. It was the tour’s second time in NY and the Garden was STILL sold out.
THE CROWD
N.E.R.D. went on first (sorry no pics, but trust Pharrell was sexy ; ) No Chad tho. Apparently he is never around… I’m totally down with “the family man, I don’t need the spotlight” thing, but he is a part of N.E.R.D. … right?
Next was Lupe. He killed it and the crowd LOVED him. I digs the dude, but I was sort of surprised when the crowed started chanting for him. Oh! And the gawd was dressed to the 9… Love a well dressed man.
Finally was Yezy. No Rihanna. I heard she was on previous bills, but not this one. Although, I would have loved to see what she would have wore. Kanye was amazing and totally inspiring. The stage was built up to resemble the surface of the moon and Yay was supposed to be in a broken down space ship. I missed the million dollar glow in the dark kicks, but he did rock a hot red windbreaker tied around his waist (like a cape) with kicks with gum to match. But enough of my banter, you can see for yourself…

WARDROBE CHANGE
(you gotta give props to performers that wear layers and jackets on stage. If you have ever had a perfect outfit that is completed with a jacket on a hot summer night, you understand the will power it takes to keep that shit on for the sake of the look.)
BACKGROUND SINGERS
You can’t really see too clearly, but the female vocalist (center) was wearing these crazy shoulder pads. Besides the fact that she is right on top of the trend (volumous, sculpted shoulders for fall) she was killing the smooth whap the whole time!

I eventually had to stop recording and just dance full out.
At the very end Kanye started talking about how he is becoming more generous and not saving all the good beats for himself. He said he made this crazy beat and started playing it. THEN Jay (looking very young) popped out and started spitting “Jockin Jay Z” from the Blueprint 3 over the beat.
